About Flathead Wilderness Medicine
Cam Johnson
Cam is the owner of Flathead Wilderness Medicine. Over the past 15 years Cam has worked in many different facets of the outdoor industry. Alongside teaching wilderness medicine courses, he has guided mountaineering, sea kayaking, and backpacking throughout Alaska, Utah, California, and a climbing/mountaineering instructor for the Northwest Outward Bound School in Washington. He was a ski patroller for eight years with six of them at Solitude Mountain Resort in Utah. During his time in Utah he volunteered for Wasatch Backcountry Rescue where he received the Stone Award for his excellence and dedication in mountain rescue. His experience ski patrolling allowed him to develop a wealth of knowledge with pre-hospital care and emergency response, while his experience leading groups through high risk terrain allowed him to hone his risk management skills. He currently spends his winters working as an Avalanche Forecaster for the Flathead Avalanche Center. When Cam is not working in the mountains, he spends his time with his wife working on their oversized garden or taking his archery equipment for long walks in the fall season.
